You cannot just pick up a guitar and start playing the style of
music that you want to play. There are things that you must
master first. This includes learning the parts of the guitar,
getting the feel of it, learning the different notes it can
play, moving on to chords and when this has all been mastered
then you are ready to move on to bigger and better
things; Blues guitar
lessons.
-
Electric or
acoustic guitar – In order to play blues you will need an
electric or acoustic guitar. These need metal strings, not
nylon ones.
-
Tablature -
You will need to learn how to read tablature and hopefully
by now you already know how to play chords.
-
Blues CD's -
It can be beneficial to listen to the blues being played on
a CD. This can help you to get an ear for the music that
you will be playing.
-
Building
agility - You will need to build up agility in your
fingers. You can do this by practicing scales. This can be
done by strumming only downward, then only upward.
-
12 Bar blues -
This is a progression of 12 chords that you should practice
often. As you practice more and more accuracy will
follow.
-
Blues
guitar lessons - The next step is to find someone
who can teach you the blues on your
guitar.
You can receive these lessons from a music
teacher, videos or with online software. This all depends on
what is more convenient to you. Each will cost different.
Each is taught with a different style so it depends on which
way will make you more comfortable. For example with a music
teacher they will have their own style of doing things. This
means that you will be learning their style. If this is fine
with you then by all means go in that direction. The videos
and online software can show you different styles and may be
more than what you are looking for. It is your preference
but whatever you do, it is important that you get
blues guitar
lessons if you
want to learn the blues.
